Ninety Plus Cellars is a 21st-century négociant. They scour the world for wineries with a history of high ratings, purchase a limited number of cases, label them as 90+ Cellars, and then sell them for a fraction of the original cost. The website runs on ExpressionEngine and a variety of modules. One highlight is a 1000+ retailer locator integrated with Google Maps. The site is also responsive and tuned for mobile devices. Pilotmade worked with Edgar Stewart Design and Illustration and Wheelhouse 360 on this project.

Pilotmade worked with the University of Southern California to develop a new website for their current Campaign for the University of Southern California. The campaign is a multi-year, $6 billion fundraising effort. The largest in the history of higher education. The site is built on ExpressionEngine, offering campaign staff a powerful and easy to use platform as the campaign continues. USC Web Services was responsible for the general Graphic Identity and some master stylesheets.

The globalMIT site is the Institute’s public global activities portal. This project was a redesign of an existing site. The redesign focused on streamlining the information architecture, revisiting the visual design, and allowing for more intuitive access to the project database. Unique features include a custom Google Map displaying projects by location and the import of RSS Feeds. Built in ExpressionEngine. Completed while employed by MIT. The website showcases nine students and the stories that drive them to be the very best. This 2009 re-design in ExpressionEngine includes the original Flash videos, directed by Joshua Seftel. This project was completed while employed as Lead Web Producer at Boston College. A school-wide redesign of the entire website needed flexible templating built around web-standards to ensure future development would be seemless and easy. The templates were used in a Serena Collage backend. The site was launched in 2005. Visual design by Keith Ake.

MIT has published Spectrum for their donor population three times a year since 1988. This project converted the archives back to 1999 into a standard web accessible format that now accompanies the print version’s publishing schedule. The site relies on a customized WordPress backend, using smart tagging and content sharing. The redesigned site boosted traffic by 100%, while allowing staff to enter each issue themselves, saving external development costs. Completed while employed by MIT.

The Resource Development department at MIT requested a wordmark and simple friendly external website to showcase the offices and provide information for potential hires. Creating the site on WordPress allowed the department players to easily update the site, and show off the great people and projects within the group.

From the founder of Yankee Candle Company comes a new candle company in Western Massachusetts. Kringle Candle Company wanted an unique, elegant shopping experience that delighted customers and maintained the feel of their brand new factory store. We used ExpressionEngine and CartThrob to keep track of 36 scents, 12 styles, and over 400 products. Some highlights include a unique “browsing” experience, and integration with the UPS API for live rates and address validation. Designed with assistance from co-pilot John Bogan. Rob’s Really Good was founded by Robert Ehrlich, the creator of Pirate’s Booty. They make all natural, organic beverages, snacks and chocolate. Pilotmade worked with Edgar Stewart Design and Illustration who designed the site and the packaging for the new product line. Simple hand-coded CSS and HTML with some simple jQuery flourishes make up the foundation of this site.

DrinkBoston.com is a blog devoted to where and how to drink well in the Boston area. Lauren Clark, a freelance journalist and former bartender and brewer, has been maintaining the site for three years and decided things needed freshening up. Armed with inspiration from Vanity Fair and Playboy circa the 1950s, we upgraded an existing WordPress install with a custom theme and some custom scripting. Cufon was used sparingly on the headlines. After the redesign, DrinkBoston.com was voted the Boston’s Best Blog of 2010 in the Boston Phoenix.

Lally & Co. maintains a constant display of Chinese ceramics, bronzes, jades, sculpture, and a wide variety of different Chinese works of art including ivory, enamels, and glass in New York City.
